A Super Season for multiple reasons!

2018 sees the introduction of the WEC Super Season, named not for the many, varied, high-level entries which will be competing but for the fact that the season will stretch over 14 months, beginning in May 2018 and ending with the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2019.

This transitional season will be the first to see the cornerstone event of the WEC placed as the last event in the calendar, and it is an exceptional season in that it features among the eight rounds not one but two editions of the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.  Make the most of this because it won’t happen again!

The addition of new LMP1 Private teams to Toyota Motorsport in the most technological of classes, LMP1, breathes new life into the prototype categories and the quality of the driver line ups indicates that the races will be as fiercely fought and entertaining as ever.

BMW joins Aston Martin, Ferrari, Ford and Porsche in the highly competitive, world class GTE Pro category, bringing the entries to 10 and offering arguably the highest level of GT competition in the world.  Add to this a very strong LMGTE Am class with entries from Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche and the stakes are raised even further in the quest for GT World Manufacturer Championship status.

LMP2 continues to provide the perfect environment for teams and drivers making the step up to world endurance racing, and door-to-door, nose-to-tail racing is guaranteed!

As well as new cars and few faces, 2018-2019’s calendar features prestigious and historic circuits around the world including, for the first time since 2012, Sebring International Raceway in Florida.  The WEC will join IMSA in putting on a spectacular weekend festival of motor racing – the 1500 Miles of Sebring taking place immediately after IMSA’s traditional 12-hour race.

Spa, Le Mans, Silverstone, Fuji, Shanghai, Sebring, Spa and Le Mans…never again will there be such an opportunity for fans to be entertained by so many miles of racing in the one season.  Enjoy the WEC Super Season!
